The weather in El Calafate is mostly cold and dry, making it difficult to distinguish clothing by season. In summer, winds are stronger and more frequent.

It’s always better to wear warm layers. Trekking or athletic shoes are recommended.

Windbreakers with hoods, along with gloves, scarves, and jackets, are advisable throughout the year. Don’t forget sunglasses and sunscreen.

You must carry your passport along with travel insurance and consult your Embassy or your country’s Immigration Office regarding visa requirements. It is mandatory for minors to have their identity documents and to stay with their parents or legally authorized guardians, especially for lake excursions, trekking on the Patagonian Ice Field, and visits to Chile, as these documents will be required to participate

The currency used in El Calafate is the Argentine peso. It is advisable to carry cash, as not all establishments accept credit or debit cards. Currency exchange is also available in the city, especially at banks and exchange offices.
