Enjoy an incredible experience trekking on the Perito Moreno Glacier

The Minitrekking begins at Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, located 70 km from El Calafate. There you will embark to cross the Brazo Rico, arriving at the opposite coast after approximately 20 minutes of navigation in front of the imposing south face of the Perito Moreno Glacier.

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by expert mountain guides, who will divide you into subgroups and accompany you throughout the tour.

The trekking begins with a walk along the shore of the lake for about an hour, where in addition to enjoying the wonderful view, you will receive a talk about glaciology from the guides. Before going up to the ice, the guides will put on crampons and helmets, and explain the basic safety rules.

You will explore the glacier for approximately 1 hour and, at the end, you will go through the periglacial area and the lateral moraine from where you will have a panoramic view of the Perito Moreno Glacier, the mountains and the lake.

Then, we will return along a trail that crosses the lush Patagonian Andean forest, completing the three-hour hike along the lake shore, ice, moraine and forest.

At the end of this last part of the hike, you will return by boat to Puerto Bajo Las Sombras.

Important Information

Due to the MODERATE complexity and effort that this activity requires and with the sole objective of preserving health, they will not be able to participate:

• Sedentary people with obesity.
• Pregnant
• Persons with any degree or type of physical or mental disability that affects their attention, gait and/or coordination.
• Only suitable for people from 8 to 65 years old. No exceptions.
• People with a cardiac history, or whose cardiac or vascular capacities are diminished, or who use stents, bypass, pacemakers or other prostheses. Example: anticoagulant medications, grade III varicose veins (those that are thick and multiple).
• People suffering from diseases caused by respiratory disabilities such as COPD, asthma, emphysema, among others.
• People suffering from epilepsy or convulsions.
