The Minitrekking adventure begins at Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, located 70 km from El Calafate. There, you'll board a boat to cross the Rico Arm of Lake Argentino, arriving at the opposite shore after approximately 20 minutes of navigation in front of the glacier’s stunning southern face.
Upon arrival, expert mountain guides will welcome you, divide participants into small groups, and lead you throughout the experience.
The trek starts with a one-hour hike along the lake’s shoreline. In addition to admiring the spectacular scenery, you'll receive a brief introduction to glaciology from your guides. Before stepping onto the ice, they will help you put on crampons and helmets and provide essential safety instructions.
You’ll explore the glacier for around one hour, discovering its fascinating formations. After the ice walk, the excursion continues along the lateral moraine and periglacial area, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Perito Moreno Glacier, the mountains, and the lake.
After the ice trek, you'll continue along a scenic trail through the Andean Patagonian forest, rounding out a total of about three hours of walking across lake shore, glacier, moraine, and woodland paths.
The experience ends with a peaceful boat ride back to Puerto Bajo de las Sombras.
